ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Auckland

Upon arrival Self drive clients will pick up the rental car from the airport and drive to your hotel.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Auckland morning sightseeing

Self-drive passengers, enjoy your local sightseeing; Today see firsthand why Auckland is regarded as one of the best cities in the world to live in, as you enjoy this half day tour around the central city and picturesque suburbs. Journey begins with a short trip over the Harbour Bridge to the North Shore before returning to the central city to visit Queen St and the Auckland Viaduct. You will then drive along the scenic waterfront route of Tamaki Drive to the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park, in Mission Bay. A memorial to the first Labour Prime Minister of New Zealand and the founder of the welfare state. Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park has panoramic views over Whenua Rangatira, Auckland city and Waitemata Harbour. This park is a popular wedding and tourist venue, with formal gardens and perfect venue for flying a fabulous array of colourful and creative kites. Then return to downtown Auckland. Highlights: Harbour Bridge, Viaduct Harbour, Queen Street, Auckland Domain, Tamaki Drive, Michael Savage Memorial.

Later Visit Kelly Tarltons Kelly Tarltons Entry; Set on the waterfront of Auckland City on Ohaku Bay, just moments from the famous Mission Bay beach, Kelly Tarlton's showcases over 30 live animal exhibits, from over 80 different species in spectacular habitat displays, including New Zealand's only colony of Antarctic penguins and amazing underwater viewing tunnels. Kelly Tarlton’s SEA LIFE Aquarium is only a 10 minute drive or six kilometres (3.7 miles) from downtown Auckland. If you are not driving, 7 days a week Kelly Tarlton's operates a free shuttle service from downtown Auckland which runs hourly on the Half hour from 9:30am until 3:30pm, with the final pick up from downtown being at 3:30pm. After the 3:30pm pick up there are no return drop offs - however there is a public bus stop close by.
Kelly Tarlton's SEA LIFE Aquarium is open every day: 9.30am - 5.00pm (Last entries STRICTLY 4pm)

Evening visit Sky Tower Auckland - Total Tower Experience Pass. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Auckland

After your breakfast, visit Rainbow's End Auckland Entry pass with rides; New Zealand’s largest theme park promises all the thrills you can handle with a host of fun activities and world class rides. There is something for everyone, spin vertically and horizontally, suspended 18m high on the Power Surge, be trapped in a runaway mine cart and Fear Fall 18 storeys at 82km/hr!  Defy gravity on New Zealand’s only corkscrew roller coaster or ride the Log Flume with its dramatic water chute plunge. With performances from the Flaming Phoenix every weekend, it’s a full day of entertainment here at Rainbow’s End. Open daily from 10am to 5pm, except Christmas Day, Corner Manukau Station Road and Great South Road, Manukau City, phone.

Day 4: Auckland – Rotorua via Waitomo

After breakfast at Hotel’s restaurant you will travel across the rich Waikato farmland for Waitomo. Enjoy a guided tour of the Waitomo Caves (entry & guided tour with boat ride is included) and a boat ride through the famous Glow-Worm grotto. Enjoy twinkling lights emitting from the ceiling like stars in a dark night. Later travel across to forested Mamaku Range to arrive at the thermal resort of Rotorua. Self-drive customers willtravel by own.

Day 5: Rotorua sightseeing

Self Drive Details Rotorua City Sightseeing; Agrodome COMBO: Farm Show & Rainbow Springs (Park – includes Big Splash, self-guided)This great value combo includes the famous Agrodome Farm Show – a multi award winning show you will be entertained and informed as a real kiwi shearer (black singlet and all) presents 19 breeds of champion sheep, shears a sheep, works noisy Huntaway and silent Strong-Eyed dogs and completes the dog trial. Have the opportunity to milk a cow, feed a lamb and even buy a sheep! Rainbow Springs is a stunning kiwi wildlife park where you can get up close and personal with all of NZ’s favourite native birds and lizards, including the kiwi and tuatara. Learn about our kiwi conservation project and visit our kiwi enclosures – the nocturnal house by day or come back at night to see kiwi under the stars in their outdoor enclosure. Three Farm Shows daily at 9.30am, 11.00am and 2.30pm. Rainbow Springs open from 8.30am until 9.30pm.

Later visit Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland Admission, Thousands of Years in the Making, A Wonderland of Stunning Geothermal Activity. Overnight at hotel (B)

Day 6: Rotorua

Today you have day free for leisure to enjoy optional activities like; Gondola, luge, Polynesian spa, Hells gate, etcOvernight at hotel (B)

Day 7: Rotorua to Queenstown (Flight not Included)

After breakfast check out from the hotel & proceed to Rotorua airport; drop your rental car at rental car drop off zone. On arrival at Queenstown airport, make your way to the rental car branch at the Airport to complete hiring formalities and pick up your rental car.  Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Queenstown

Today you may choose to travel around Queenstown and visit many of the city's highlights including Lake Hayes, AJ Hackett Bungy Bridge, HistoricArrowtown& Edith Cavell Bridge(activities not included).

Afternoon enjoy Queenstown Scenic Cruise (1.5hrs); enjoy spectacular Lake Wakatipu on Queenstown Discovery.
See the towering Remarkables mountain range, Cecil Peak, Hidden Island and cruise Frankton Arm.Discover hidden waterfalls and take in the magnificent views of Queenstown from the water.Outdoor decks offer excellent panoramic viewing with plenty of photo opportunities.Informative commentary provided by the skipper on the history, local legends and stunning vistas. Overnight at hotel.  

Day 9: Queenstown to Wanaka

Depart Queenstown and drive north to Wanaka. On arrival visit Puzzling World - Wanaka Great Maze + Illusion Rooms; When you arrive at Puzzling World you will immediately notice the crazy architecture. One building has four eccentric Tumbling Towers. Another one is called the Leaning Tower of Wanaka. This tower has been pulled out of the ground and is balanced on one corner at an unbelievable 53 degrees! The Leaning Tower of Pisa only leans six degrees.

We developed the first of the world's modern-style mazes. Designed to be a fascinating and enjoyable puzzle. 1.5km of passages - allow 30 minutes to one hour to achieve. Emergency doors for those with limited time, patience or energy! Adults, this maze is a lot of fun. It is designed to intrigue people of ALL ages.Overnight in hotel. (B)

Day 10: Wanaka to Dunedin

This morning travel from Alpine resort Queenstown following the historical Otago goldfields trail, continue your journey journey over viaducts and through the Central Otago hill country to Pukarangi before reaching the Scottish influenced city Dunedin(Entry Costs to Attractions, where applicable, is Not Included).Overnight in hotel. (B)

Day 11: Dunedin

Explore Dunedin's most interesting sites and get a real taste of what the city has to offer. Scope out the city's main attractions, landmarks & culture. Discover Dunedin's unique place in the history of New Zealand. Dunedin city has many beautiful and interesting sights, most notable being the stunning block and stone buildings such as the much photographed Dunedin Railway Station, the Municipal Chambers, the Town Hall and Otago Boys High School to name a few. There are several churches within easy walking distance of the Octagon including St Pauls Cathedral, First Church, Knox Church and St Josephs Cathedral that are also well worth a visit.

Afternoon visit Cadbury World, Dunedin; The Full Tour last for approximately 75 minutes. This tour includes the self-guided experience through the Cadbury World Visitor Centre where you can learn about the history of chocolate since its discovery, see how Cadbury chocolate has evolved over the years, view popular Cadbury television advertisements and miniature Cadbury truck replicas, and learn about where Cadbury operates all over the world. Cadbury World is open 7 days a week, with tours running from 9am-3.15pm.Overnight in hotel. (B)

Day 12: Dunedin to Christchurch

Travel north from the Scottish influenced city Duendin towards historic Oamaru with its impressive stone buildings. Then follow the coastal road to the port city of Timaru and continue your journey across the Canterbury Plains before reaching Christchurch(Entry Costs to Attractions, where applicable, is Not Included). Overnight in hotel. (B)

Day 13: Christchurch

After breakfast visit Orana Wildlife Park Park Admission; Set on 80 hectares of park-like grounds, Orana Wildlife Park is New Zealand’s only open range zoo. We offer a range of exciting animal encounters on a daily basis.  The Park is located within ten minutes drive of Christchurch International Airport and 25 minutes drive from the City centre . There is also a transport service with Sunshine Shuttles. The Park has been developed as an open range sanctuary for endangered animals, providing them with enclosures as close to their natural habitat as possible. Streams, moats and banks are used as barriers to allow visitors the opportunity to see the animals in a natural manner. Over 400 animals from 70 different species are displayed

Afternoon enjoy Tram ride, Enjoy a journey in style through the changing face of Christchurch’s city centre on board our beautifully restored heritage Trams, one of Christchurch’s leading attractions.

Later travel around Christchurch covering the central city highlights including the botanical gardens, Museum and Art Centre, the Avon river, Bridge of Remembrance, the cities new pop up container mall and many other CBD highlights.  (Entry Costs to Attractions, where applicable, is Not Included).

Day 14: Departure day

After breakfast Self-drive customers will travel their rental car, drop the car at airport branch and board your flight for onward journey (flight not included)
