ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Auckland

Upon arrival Self drive clients will pick up the rental car from the airport and drive to your hotel.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Auckland morning sightseen

Self drive passengers, enjoy your local sightseeing; Today see firsthand why Auckland is regarded as one of the best cities in the world to live in, as you enjoy this half day tour around the central city and picturesque suburbs. Journey begins with a short trip over the Harbour Bridge to the North Shore before returning to the central city to visit Queen St and the Auckland Viaduct. You will then drive along the scenic waterfront route of Tamaki Drive to the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park, in Mission Bay. A memorial to the first Labour Prime Minister of New Zealand and the founder of the welfare state. Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park has panoramic views over Whenua Rangatira, Auckland city and Waitemata Harbour. This park is a popular wedding and tourist venue, with formal gardens and perfect venue for flying a fabulous array of colourful and creative kites. Then return to downtown Auckland. Highlights: Harbour Bridge, Viaduct Harbour, Queen Street, Auckland Domain, Tamaki Drive, Michael Savage Memorial.
Afternoon is free for leisure; enjoy optional activities like Sky tower, Sky Walk, Kelly tarlton, or Rainbow's End, Motat Museum(activities not included).. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Auckland – Rotorua via Waitomo

After breakfast at Hotel’s restaurant you will travel across the rich Waikato farmland for Waitomo. Enjoy a guided tour of the Waitomo Caves (entry & guided tour with boat ride is included) and a boat ride through the famous Glow-Worm grotto. Enjoy twinkling lights emitting from the ceiling like stars in a dark night. Later travel across to forested Mamaku Range to arrive at the thermal resort of Rotorua. Self-drive customers willtravel by own.

Day 4: Rotorua sightseeing

After breakfast at Hotel’s restaurant, enjoy River rats Grade 5 Kaituna river rafting (subject to weather permit), Join River Rats in an adrenalin rush that takes you down the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world. Fast and furious, this exhilarating ride moves you through foamy water and over the awesome seven metre drop. Although this trip provides full on action the river is pool drop meaning that every rapid is followed by calm water making it very forgiving for a grade 5 river, adventurous beginners are welcome. Around 15 – 20 minutes of training is provided prior to the trip teaching all the required paddle commands and safety information. The Kaituna Grade 5 is a trip that’s not for the fainthearted, so gather your partner, a few adrenalin- seeking friends or workmates or just yourself if everyone else is too scared. Meet us at our base at 391 State Highway 33, Mourea or arrange for our shuttle to pick you up from your central Rotorua accommodation.  Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

Later proceed to visit TE-PUIA thermal village (included) known for its hot springs, geysers and boiling mud pools. Evening at leisure.Overnight at hotel (B)

Day 5: Rotorua –Wellington

Today start your journey to Wellington via Taupo and along the shore of the huge lake to spectacular Tongariro National Park comprising of massive active volcanoes and site of North Island’s ski fields. From the barren land of this plateau, you descend to Palmerston North to the “Capital City”. Arrive Wellington by early evening.

On arrival visit Te Papa Museum Daily Tours (Self-guided) – Introducing Te Papa (Subject To time permit) Includes - Museum highlights related to New Zealand's history and natural environment, including the colossal squid.Overnight at hotel (B)

Day 6: Wellington to Christchurch via Picton (Interisland ferry)

Enjoy your early morning breakfast at hotel; drive to the ferry terminal and drop your rental car at the ferry terminal Depot.

Board the Interisland Ferry Wellington to Picton; Interisland is the New Zealand ferry service which crosses the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand.  The 92 km, three hour journey between Wellington and Picton is one of New Zealand's most iconic tourist experiences, and one of the most spectacular cruises in the world. Duration: 3 hrs 10mins approx.

On arrival at Picton ferry, collect your rental car from ferry / rental car branch & drive to Christchurch “Garden City of Christchurch”.  Overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Christchurch

After breakfast you have day free for leisure or enjoy optional activities like; Tram, Gondola, Puing ride, local sightseeing or enjoy day tour of Kaikoura (activities not included).Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Christchurch to Franz Josef

This morning after breakfast depart Christchurch over the Southern Alps to Travel south along the rugged West Coast to arrive in the glacier region of Franz Josef.  Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Franz Josef to Queenstown

Morning at leisure for the optional activities like; Glacier walk, Ice explore, heli ride, Hot pools etc(activities not included).

Later travel past the native forest, lakes and mountains of Glacier region and drive past lake Wanaka before reaching the alpine resort Queenstown.Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Queenstown

Today you may choose to travel around Queenstown and visit many of the city's highlights including Lake Hayes, AJ Hackett Bungy Bridge, HistoricArrowtown& Edith Cavell Bridgeactivities not included).

Afternoon enjoy Queenstown Scenic Cruise (1.5hrs); enjoy spectacular Lake Wakatipu on Queenstown Discovery.
See the towering Remarkables mountain range, Cecil Peak, Hidden Island and cruise Frankton Arm.Discover hidden waterfalls and take in the magnificent views of Queenstown from the water.Outdoor decks offer excellent panoramic viewing with plenty of photo opportunities.Informative commentary provided by the skipper on the history, local legends and stunning vistas.Overnight at hotel.  

Day 11: Queenstown day free for optional activities

Today you have an option to enjoy the exciting SHOTOVER JET BOAT RIDE, LEDGE BUNGY JUMP, RIVER RAFTING, SKY DIVING, HOT POOLSETC (activities not included).

Day 12: Departure day

After breakfast Self-drive customers will travel their rental car, drop the car at airport branch and board your flight for onward journey (flight not included)
